Our route explores the ecosystem bordered by Rockefeller State Park\, a designated Audubon Important Bird Area (IBA) — a global distinction given to places that provide essential habitat for one or more species of birds at any stage of their life cycle\, making it a premier corridor for birding. SUMMARY:Earth Month Clean-Up with the Lake Keepers
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for our Earth Month cleanup on Sunday\, April 26\, from 10 – 1 pm!  Stop by for an hour or stay for the entire time. As usual\, the purpose of the cleanup is to collect as much trash as we can around the Tarrytown Lakes Reservoir\, and raise awareness about the damage littering does to our environment. We picked up over 100 lbs of trash at our last cleanup and hope to pick up more! \nThe cleanup will be held at the Neperan Road parking lot\, at the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and Neperan Road. Look for our sign and table. Donuts\, candy\, pizza and water will be provided\, as well as gloves\, pickers\, vests\, and trash bags. We will work mainly on the trails that go through the woods and on the roads that wind around the lakes. The town will be providing a police escort to keep us safe on the roads.
